I’m a PhD student in the the Department of Genome Sciences. Originally from Mexico, I received my B.S. in Genome Sciences at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) at the Juriquilla Campus. There, I studied COVID transcriptomics and wrote my first pipeline in Alejandra Medina-Rivera’s Lab. After undergrad, I worked at the Fred Hutch Cancer Center in the Blanco-Melo Lab where I focused on HERVs, and interferon signaling on human stem cells.

In the Trapnell Lab, I am interested in understanding the deeply layered cis-regulatory code using deep learning and molecular biology tools, particularly on its role for zebrafish development.

Outside of the lab, I enjoy listening to music, watching anime, hiking and spending time with friends and family.
